Social Media Intern

Position Overview

The Ghana Brain Tumor Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is seeking a motivated and creative Social Media Intern who is eager to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications and digital storytelling. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to GBTF’s mission by supporting awareness, advocacy, education, and fundraising efforts through strategic content creation.

The intern will work closely with organizational leadership and communications partners to help develop engaging content across social media, blogs, and email campaigns. This position is ideal for individuals interested in nonprofit marketing, health advocacy, or mission driven communications.

Time Commitment

• 2–3 days per week
• 10-15 hours per week
• Remote (with occasional virtual meetings)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, and executing GBTF’s social media strategy and content calendar
• Draft, schedule and post content engaging content that aligns with the organization’s mission for social media platforms and email campaigns
• Social Media Management: Actively monitor and manage platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X) to increase engagement.
• Analyze performance metrics (engagement, reach) to improve future campaigns.
• Respond to comments/DMs to build community and donor relations.
• Campaign Support: Assist in marketing campaigns for events, fundraising, and advocacy.
• Support blog writing on topics such as brain tumor awareness, survivor stories, events, advocacy, and organizational updates
• Stay informed on relevant trends in health advocacy, nonprofit engagement, and digital communications
• Collaborate with team members across programs, events, and development initiatives to support content needs
• Contribute ideas for improving audience engagement through digital campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and virtual or in person events

Qualifications

• Open to college or graduate students, recent graduates, or professionals seeking experience in nonprofit communications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms
• Experience using Canva or similar design tools preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
• Passion for community impact, health awareness, and GBTF’s mission

Compensation

This is an unpaid, volunteer internship designed to provide meaningful professional experience, mentorship, and portfolio building opportunities while supporting a critical cause.
